QUT Kendo Club provides a welcoming space to learn the traditional Japanese martial art of kendo. We focus on strengthening mind, body, and spirit while promoting courtesy, honour, and harmony. Founded at QUT, our club offers cultural enrichment, social connection, and personal growth through training and community.
Meet the Team

Greg Nicholas
Instructor // Kendo 7th Dan Renshi
Greg began kendo in London in 1986, representing Great Britain at the World Kendo Championships in 1991 and 1994, and winning silver at the 1993 European Championships. Since moving to Brisbane in 1999, he has coached at both club and state level, attended international seminars, and continues to contribute to kendo in Queensland and across Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

Eric Jeffrey
Instructor // Kendo 6th Dan
Eric has over 40 years of kendo experience and is an Accredited Level 1 Coach. He competed in the 4th World Kendo Championships in Japan (1979), earned podium finishes at the Australian Kendo Championships and Masters Games, and remains active in the kendo community through coaching and competition.
